For My Friends in the Bigger City

Dear Friends in NYC,

I saw a post on Blisscent and thought of you. Mahogany and friends are playing an improvised set tomorrow night at Cake Shop. The band's latest work, Memory Column, will be remixed live. I ran to listen to my copy of the debut, The Dream of a Modern Day, but could not find it. I felt my heart race until I realized that I was looking under the wrong letter on my record shelves. So now, I will go listen to Mahogany in my room on the other side of the country and wish that I could bliss out to tomorrow night's set. If you do attend, please give me the details.

Yours,
Liz in LA

Comments:
That reminds me... I need to re-alphabetize my record collection. I recently pulled my singles and EPs so now I have two sets of records to organize. (CDs are in a constant rotation between my shelf and my car, so it's useless to sort them.)

man, that stinks. I gotta go see the dears (or as I like to say in my new yorkese "the deeeuhz" after which I'm gonna make my way over to bar 169 in chinatown to see mistress mary dj as part of the mayan empire. I have already requested pump up the volume & I will do a special grapevine just for you.

everyone tells me that this cake shop is the greatest thing since cake...in the meantime I will investigate mahogany.

R: I don't alphabetize cds either for the same reason. Plus, it's a lot easier to read the spine of a cd than a record.
D: *Our* Mary is DJing tonight? That's awesome. You should make t-shirts that read GGBW (gogo box whore) on them and pass them out to people. Mary will get it. It involves a go go box whoring phenomena that ended right before she visited LA.

bryan has his cds arranged chromatically. that is, by the color of the case spine. he is the only person in the world who does this, I think.

and psst. cakeshop is under boycott for being run by hipster snobsters but keep it quiet, we don't want a blow-up beef.
