Black Wire

I heard about Black Wire through a fit of insomnia that led me to tune into KROQ for Rodney's show last night. I fell for them and when Rodney announced that the band was playing a free show at the Troubadour Monday night, I figured that I had to go. Then reality set in and I saw the stack of writing assignments and homework that would inevitably prevent me from going. New York Friends, try to check out the show next weekend. I think it's at one of those clubs named after Pulp songs. Every city has a song named after a Pulp song. Well, that and Joy Division songs (yup, I'm guilty of that one).

Comments:
ah, misshapes?

so true about the pulp/division naming. no party named dead souls yet though. that would be the cannibal goth theme night on a tuesday.

I'm pretty sure that there used to be a club called Misshapes in Los Angeles a few years ago. I know that there was definitely one called His 'n' Hers a while back. Dead Souls would be the best cannibal goth theme club in town! Blur songs are popular too. There is Popscene in San Francisco. I liked Cafe Bleu, which was one of the best clubs ever in LA, as it was named for the UK-only version of the first Style Council album. Also, I remember when my friend Frankie did Satellite (where I DJed on occasion before Bang! started), he would play a different song called with Satellite in the title at the end of every party. There are a lot.

Whatever happened to Frankie? He was somewhat regular on the transmissionla board but never migrated over here. Dude could school anybody on synthpop!

Frankie was going to post about Depeche Mode in Las Vegas, but I think he got busy. Look up his Satellite page on My Space. BTW, he was playing with me at Spy Club a few weeks ago. He did the main room every Thursday.

That was him at Spy Club? I don't believe we've met in person so I wouldn't have recognized him, but jeez- did I not even look at the flyer?

I really wanted to go to the Black Wire show as well but I didn't want to make the trek out to Hollywood alone. Read any reviews on the show? I'm hoping that for our sake they weren't fantastic... this time anyway. I hope they come around again soon. Btw, this is the Norma you met at Cinespace a few weeks back when the Editors played. Just dropping in to say hello :)
