It's down the street, not across

My friend just sent me this link from a newspaper in the Inland Empire, Riverside Count to be exact: http://www.pe.com/entertainment/stories/PE_Fea_Ent_D_music.darksongs.79f33d.html

I thought it might be cool/bitchin'/gnarly to start a thread. I'll start!

I Know It's Over by the Smiths
This song starts off with "Oh mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head." Not to mention it's preceeded by "Had No One Ever" on The Queen Is Dead.

All Cats Are Grey by the Cure
Robert Smith and company released this on the album Faith which is known for it's darker tones. "All Cats are Grey" is rather short, but it's images of loneliness, being crushed to death, and impending death can last a life time.

Comments:
Queen w/David Bowie "Heroes"
I don't know if it's because the song itself bums me out or because I saw David Bowie perform it at The Forum in 1995 with someone filling in for Freddie Mercury. Death is always a bummer.

The The "Kingdom of Rain"
Out of all the break-up songs in the world, this one has to be the most heartbreaking. Sample line: "You were the boy/That turned into the man/Broke my heart and let go of my hand." This made me cry when I heard it for the first time, and I was 13 and dateless.

XTC "Dear God"
As a product of the LA Archdiocese school system, I have issues. This one plays up on most of them.

Funny you should post this because I was getting ready to post about a total tear-jerker of a song.
